– Hello, good morning.
– Good morning. Where are you going with that face?!
– What face?
– That face of the Universe.
These are the words a 4-year-old boy used to describe his experience of looking into my eyes. A child with great sensitivity, like many who have it asleep or silenced. And for those who live through the autistic gaze, earthly life can be overwhelming; the sensitivity is so awake that it can be complex to regulate the channel and situate oneself in the physical and energetic planes.
Today’s example was just that. The boy was relaxing with some modeling clay, and when I approached, placed my hand on his back, and greeted him, he began repeating my phrase and, turning his gaze to me, found himself swimming in the Universe through my eyes.
The surprise was clear and evident: he opened his eyes wide and exclaimed, “Where are you going with that face?!”
Seeing his expansion, how his heart chakra opened and his energy field amplified, without fully understanding his exaltation, I asked him, and he clearly replied that he saw the Universe in my eyes, drawing a smile as a result of this connection of Love and Unity; then he gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
It is said that the eyes are the mirror of the soul, just as the heart is: they are doors to our multidimensionality and, therefore, to the Divine Love that we all Are.
How can someone with this capacity for connection and sensitivity easily look others in the eyes?
That is why many people with traits or with the full label of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) have difficulty making eye contact.
Beyond the possible difficulty of sensory integration, looking into the eyes is to see more than a reflection.
It is to see the deep and the superficial,
the mundane and the spiritual,
what is said and what is silenced,
what is felt and what is thought.
It all depends on how one looks; the possibility is there.
Some do not want to, do not know how, or do not choose to explore it.
Others cannot avoid it.
Thanks to the open hearts who look at each life with respect.
Thanks to the souls who choose to live from autistic sensitivity.
